Nail Salon Organizing

New York State legislature passed a historic bill to protect and support nail salon workers by 1) creating a trainee program for unlicensed workers and 2) giving the Department of State the authority to shut down businesses that violate the law. With the signing of the Nail Salon workers Bill of Right.

Mekong NYC will continue to organize Cambodian and Vietnamese nail salon workers particularly in the Bronx to

• Make sure the narratives, experiences and issues concerning them are uplifted

• Provide community based support to the workers and educate them on the new law.

• Ensure that the rights of workers are protected and that they sign up for health insurance
